Last week when I wrote my email I was emotional. I was upset about things happening. I called on people as Christians and Conservatives to start speaking out.
Using the phrase Christian was seen by some as excluding others, ie Jewish people, or people who are not particularly religious. It is never my intent to upset or exclude anyone. Yes, I am a Christian, and that admittedly influences how I see the world. When I called on Christians to start standing up and speaking out it was meant more as a call of people of Faith. I am a Lutheran. I have been ostracized for not worshiping the same way as other denominations. In the future I will talk about my Christianity again. It's a given, because it is part of my life, but I will try to keep in mind that everyone that follows me does not express their faith in the same way. I am happy to have people of all walks of life follow me. We are all different and that is what makes our country, and this community in particular so special. I also want to thank the people who wrote to me and expressed their feelings. Talking to each other when we have issues is so important. We can not make changes if we are not able to have a dialogue with people.

The news has been so sad.
Last night when I was finishing up the podcast I saw the news that Ruth Bader Ginsberg. I stayed up much later than I normally would watching the news, listening to the tributes that people were putting out. Personally, I was not a huge fan, but she was a monster in the world. Any death is sad. I feel concerned for our country. This is another occasion that could stand to divide us. This morning I woke up early to finish the podcast and work on this email. I turned on the news (because that's what I do). There was a shooting last night. 2 people dead 14 injured. I am sad. This country is struggling. We have turned so far away from God. It is time for us to stand up as Christians, Conservatives, as Americans. We need to stop compromising and stand up for what we know is right. Check out the podcast this week. Elizabeth from the Joy of Knitting joined us this week. She talks about her experience standing up for what is right after the Women's March in 2017. I would love to know what you think about all of these things. Let me know! I don't know how it has happened, but September is almost half over.
We started homeschooling. It isn't going as smoothly as I had hoped. The kids are having trouble seeing me as a teacher. I am having trouble structuring my day to make it full and happy for all of us. It will get better. I know we will find a rhythm and structure to our days. I tend to be flighty, but in spite of that I still value routine and structure. There will be new patterns coming. Testing for the Stained Glass Diamonds Beanie will be starting this week. This week I released a new pattern, #SaveOurChildren. $4 from every pattern sale will be donated to Operation Underground Railroad. They work to help children who have been involved in child sex trafficking and they also help bring the perpetrators to justice. Please check it out! I'll talk to you soon!! |
