As a Christian I have hope in what is yet to come. Easter is an excellent example of this. When Jesus died there is mourning and sadness, but Easter comes and there is great joy when we find the tomb empty.
Right now there are so many uncertainties. There is job loss, trouble paying bills, food sold out at the grocery stores. There are the mental uncertainties of being quarantined. People are sad and scared and don't know what to do. I have really avoided the news. It was difficult for me to watch when it seemed like nothing was changing, but this week it was different. There is now a plan in place to start going back to life as we know it. Last Sunday when I was listening to my Pastor's Easter sermon it struck me how we can draw parallels from the Easter story to our current state of affairs. We have been in a situation where there has been sadness, loss and uncertainty. It has been difficult and we have been angry and afraid of how things will turn out. But there is light. The early Christians found the tomb empty because God is faithful and fulfilled His promise. I am not naive enough to think we will wake up tomorrow and life will be back to normal. This is going to take time, but there is hope, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I believe God blessed us with a leader who will be able to see this through and help us become the nation we were before. I just finished a design that had been requested about a year ago, God Bless America. At the time I wasn't ready to work on it. After quarantine started it came flooding back to my mind, and it was obvious it was going to be the next project. I hope you enjoy it. It can be found in my Etsy shop. It will be available at 10% off until April 20th. I am also hosting another virtual knit night tonight at 8:30 EDT. It will go from 8:30 until around 10:30. It was a lot of fun to connect with other knitters. I hope to see you there.

So, I haven't exactly known what to say lately. I know a lot of people are really struggling right now. There are so many people who have been affected negatively by this national shut down. There is the stress of being essential and having to go to work every day, or losing a job, or financial insecurity.
We are sooo lucky. I work, but I work for myself and I have stopped for the time being. I hope that my jobs are still available when this ends, but if they aren't it won't be the end of me. My husband is able to work from home. My kids are young enough that they aren't devastated by not seeing friends and being at school. All in all we are enjoying our time together. I almost feel bad saying it when I know so many people are struggling. I hope that you are able to find things that make you happy in this crazy time. In an effort to bring some joy and companionship, I am hosting a virtual knit night. It will be tonight at 9 pm EST. As I have never attended a knit night in person, I would appreciate any advice that you may have for me. :) It will be through Zoom and you can access it through the link below. I hope you will stop by. |
